Scrappy Prairie Stout Log Cabin Quilt Timeline
Started: November 26, 2012
November 26, 2012: I decide that I want to use up as much of my stash as possible and start three stash-busting quilts all on the same day. The Scrappy Dots Christmas Quilt, the Spring Scattered Squares Quilt and this quilt. I work on the blocks in my spare time over the next several months.
April 16, 2013: After steadily working away on the blocks, I’m finally ready to pin!
May 28, 2013: It’s pinned, but I’m still not quilting. I’m not sure I love it anymore! ARGH!
July 5, 2013: Attempt to quilt in a standard meander but my machine is skipping stitches like CRAZY. Decide that it’s the sheet I used for a backing and realize I’m going to have to unpick & unpin the entire quilt and start over.
September 9, 2013: I’ve unpicked, unpinned and re-pinned the quilt. Since my big machine is broken and the garage sale machine I’m using is too small, I decide to hand-tie the quilt. I quickly give up. The quilt top goes into storage until I can quilt it. In the meantime, my enthusiasm for the quilt is waning as it seems so blah.
July 22, 2015: After languishing for two years, I finally decide the secret is to finish it and give it away. I finish the Scrappy Prairie Stout Log Cabin Quilt and give it to my friend who is working on the Saturday Improv Quilt.
